It was truly a Blessing to have the opportunity to participate in this build. I have worked on other builds and on several Habitat for Humanity Blitz Builds but, this was SO special because of the family and what they do. My wife and I both worked on the build and it was an awesome experience. We had the opportunity to meet the Hurstons after the build was completed and you would have thought that they had known us forever. They are a wonderfully deserving family. My personal THANKS to Lifestyle Homes for their role in this build.

Spending some time with the "Brains" over at FSEC was a great experience. As a sales person selling these homes, even I didn't grasp the amount of time and research that goes into building a Lifestyle Sunsmart Home. After hearing about all the different experiments and tests that FSEC performs on each individual Lifestyle Home in the name of energy efficiency, I have a new understanding for the value these homes are providing to our customers. And another great point to make is that FSEC as an independent gov. supported entity would like to see other builders take advantage of their science to build better, more energy efficient home as well. But no other builder in Brevard other then Lifestyle is willing to do what it takes to provide this kind of quality to their customers. toot-toot goes my horn.

Hello Jake,

I would like to have dialogue with you regarding the building of a Net-Zero home in the Veranda Place community. I will admit that what first drew me to Lifestyle Homes was an article in a Florida publication extolling your good corporate citizenship. If we are able to find common ground, I believe that I would be in a position to facilitate additional sales of LifeStyle Homes in Florida. Creating a win-win opportunity.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Good question, Jason. Money doesn't flow back and forth, only power. In any month, you pay only for power you buy in excess of power you supply. You pay normal utility company charges, including taxes and fees, etc. for the net power you buy. If in a given month, you supply more power back to the utility than you buy, the surplus power you sent back is banked as a credit against power you buy in the future. If at the end of their accounting year, you have supplied more power back to the utility than you bought, they will cut you a check for the difference at their normal rate less taxes, fees, etc. The term "Net Zero" means a PV system has been designed to net out power flows at zero for the year, given reasonable assumptions about house size, number of occupants and power usage habits. For instance, our Net Zero model home in Capron Ridge is designed to deliver Net Zero performance for a family of five.

This is great. Builders are constantly trying to reduce costs, however, sometimes putting a little extra money into the product will pass along reduced utility expenses to the consumer. What a concept... this will be how homes are valued in the very near future.
