Beryl: Our Unwelcome Memorial Day Guest
May 27, 2012Melbourne, FL – May 27, 2012 – A week after Antonio came calling, which prompted us at LifeStyle Homes to remind all of you to check your stocks of storm supplies, here comes Tropical Storm Beryl to visit our next door neighbors in northeast Florida. Could this be the weirdest storm track ever?
So, friends and neighbors, we’ve had two wake-up calls in as many weeks. Now, will you go out and get what you need to be ready? Like the flight instructor said to the student struggling to land, but still too hot and too high, “Son, there is nothing so useless in all the world as all that runway behind you.” Do not run out of time before you are ready to protect your family. If and when a bad storm comes, you will feel really bad about all the time you could have used to get ready.
What a bummer! Here, it is the opening summer holiday when we’re all supposed to be at the beach eating sandy hot dogs and getting sunburned. Instead, many of us will have to stay indoors. Oh well, for us there will be many more beach weekends to enjoy. But, for too many of our military service members, there will be no more weekends of fun. And for many more, those weekends will have to be enjoyed in spite of grievous injuries suffered defending the freedom the rest of us enjoy to go to the beach.
Pause and think about that a bit while you’re stuck indoors, will you? Resolve to find a service person next week, or a loved one of a service person, and thank them. Then , while you’re still stuck inside, think about what you would wish you had inside with you, if there was horizontal rain going on outside.
